Vishay Launched the VCNT2025X01 Reflective Optical Sensor

Vishay Intertechnology, a global leader in the manufacture of discrete semiconductors and passive electronic components, has recently announced the launch of its latest reflective optical sensor, marking another significant milestone in the field of optical sensing technology.

The newly released sensor, VCNT2025X01, is a compact and high-performance device designed for a wide range of applications including automotive, smart homes, industrial, and office equipment. With dimensions of just 2.5mm x 2.0mm x 0.6mm, the sensor integrates an infrared emitter, a silicon photodiode detector, and an efficient daylight blocking filter into a small surface-mount package, providing unprecedented space savings.

The innovative design of VCNT2025X01 places the emitter and detector on the same plane, enabling the sensor to detect reflected infrared light from objects within its detection range of 0.3mm to 4.5mm. The integrated daylight blocking filter significantly reduces interference from ambient light, improving the signal-to-noise ratio and ensuring high accuracy in complex environments.

One of the standout features of VCNT2025X01 is its high current transfer ratio (CTR) of 33%, which is a significant improvement over previous generations and competitive sensors. This high CTR, combined with a typical output current of 6.6mA and an emitter wavelength of 940nm, allows the sensor to operate reliably in high-temperature environments up to +110°C, far exceeding the limits of similar competitor devices which are typically rated up to +80°C.

In addition to its excellent performance, VCNT2025X01 also boasts a robust FAM package that enhances interference resistance and facilitates optical inspection of solder joints during the manufacturing process. The sensor is compliant with RoHS and Vishay Green standards, ensuring that it meets the highest environmental and sustainability requirements.

Vishay's VCNT2025X01 is suitable for various applications such as optical switches in automotive electronics, optical encoding in industrial automation systems, and paper detection in printers and copiers.
